Communication

Communication is defined as how verbal and nonverbal mechanisms are used to inform people of expectations and results, as well as to transfer knowledge. These mechanisms can be formal (memos, publications, meetings, evaluation sessions) or informal (gossip, grapevine, management walking around). In effective organizations, the information flows both ways, creating feedback loops.

Communication components we look at include:

  • Information sharing through committees, reports, etc.
  • Interpersonal capabilities
  • Training
  • Policies
